CosmicBodies
Tremble. Touch. Sense if that rock is a rock or an alien. Roll.
Tremble. Touch. Sense if that rock is a rock or an alien. Roll. Harmonize with chemicals. Remain asymmetrical, but find order. Transform. Vibrate. Speak planetary languages. Breathe. Confuse the "human" with your olfactory organs.
In COSMICBODIES, seven dancing bodies draw from the horror and science fiction genres, scientific discourses, pop and subculture to extract an intimate body language. The images of the piece thus move through the space-time of the sounding inner world of one's own body to the sounding outer space. Outer and inner space tilt and invert into each other, with memories of our mother's advice finding themselves in photons heading for black holes. Frictions, conflicts and potentials of new bodies and new behaviors of relationship between these bodies emerge. From this earthly and "human" past, rapidly multiplying polybrid monstrous bodies emerge with new abilities, protective mechanisms, constellations, functions, body parts, extensions and movements, a kind of cosmic political humanoid subject.
COSMICBODIES is a dance piece for people with and without visual impairment and integrates an artistic audio description. After "Blue Moon" and "Witches" it is the third work by Ursina Tossi from "EXCESSIVE SHOWING you can only dismantle the master's house with the monster's tools!", a choreographic series of critical queer-feminist perspectives on the constructions of femininity and monstrous bodies in the context of mythology, history(s) and pop culture.
